Sometimes  sheer ready-to-wear blouses have a cami sewn in, rather than a full lining. Maybe a simple cami pattern could be sewn in something soft like crepe or jersey.  Then just tack the shoulder straps to the inside of the shoulder…

I would use the same fabric, but cut it from a pattern you make with what you get when you've folded out all the pleats. Should work fine.

Need Help with the Lining of a Blouse

Thumbnail
Hi, I bought some Vera Wang silk from Fabric.com, that I am now making into a sleeveless blouse  with front pleats and tucks, Butterick B5354.  The material is much more sheer than I remember and I was thinking about lining it but dont know how to do that with the pleats and tucks. Any ideas? Also since the material is so sheer can I use the same material for the lining?  It sure wouldn't be any thicker than a lining fabric.Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, KarenSee More

Thank you, I did put a new needle in but will check to see if I have a single hole throat plate and give that a try. Karen

I have a Baby Lock Decorators Choice. I am working on some PJs in a stretch knit fabric and the material does not feed as it should. I have to stop and remove the material from down inside the machine. I have loosened the top tension which helped…

Great video. I love garment sewing but sleeves are the tell-tale sign that it is "homemade" I am going to practice this method.

I believe the substantive difference between a layout that is "with nap" and one that is "without nap" is very simple. Fabrics "with nap" look different when viewed from opposite ends of the length of yardage.…

Thank you, I have a call into Simplicity now. I am from the same "old school" and have just started sewing again after many years.

This video demonstrates how to fix / adjust / repair the timing of the hook on a sewing machine. If the thread from your needle isn't getting caught by the hook that rotates around, this video explains what to adjust to fix that. Requires some very basic tools and takes 15-30 minutes - maybe less.
