Hi. I am Karen Pior and Sew Well Maide is where I wear my business hat. I also have other hats - Mother to five, Wife to one (!!!), Sister, Daughter, Friend. My hats are interchangable or, as frequently happens, worn precariously stacked on top of each other!! I am passionate about all things fabric and textile, in particular patchwork quilts both modern and antique. I love the excitement of designing and stacks of fabric bolts give me a quiet little thrill! Knitting is my nirvana. The click clack of the needles is both soothing and peaceful. It quietens a busy mind and lulls me into another world full of possibilities or nothing in particular!!! When I hang out on Ravelry and Flickr I am known as Knitting Maide. When time allows I love reading, veggie gardening, watching tv. And I try to never, ever miss an opportunity to yell and cheer as the football, soccer, cricket and ballet Mum. I wanted to start designing quilt patterns to sell to help finance my obsessional hobby. I found a real love of the whole design process and have now embarked on a new career (to add to my primary career as a stay at home Mum) as a quilt designer and maker of ready to purchase quilts.Taking the step to put myself out in the world for others to see and comment on my work has been very scary!!! So much of yourself goes into creating and you so hope that others can find something to love about your designs. I hope to be able to share my sewing experiences, both the triumphs and the 'oops perhaps nots', within this new community 'Sew Whats New' that I have discovered.

Once upon a time there was a girl (ok, a mature, wise, older experienced woman!!) who dithered about becoming a blogger. After much encouragement from friends who were already ensconsed in blogland she took the plunge. Many ideas came and went in her head - some of them were even committed to paper, ah screen. However, she quickly came to realise that even though it seemed like it was a good idea at the time it may not be able to live up to the grand plans she had…

Wow, I wish you lots of luck Karen, how wonderful, hope it all turns out very well for you. Keep us all informed. That is some good information, sounds like you are excited about your new venture, and that is 1/2 the battle.
I hope you all have a good Holiday season this year, and are enjoying your sewing and crafts.
Sue Smith said… You are one busy lady, Karen. We all are this time of year I guess. Especially if we are into handmade on line sales. Your work is lovely. You really have a quilting talent. Keep up the good work.
