Common Tension Mistakes on Sewing Machines

"I would love to see more videos like this concerning easy to do mistakes on the machine itself.  So many things can be fixed by yourself if you only know what the issue is.  This instructor was very straight forward and easy to understand."

"I've used a zigzag, but you need to have plenty of allowance. If not, the fabric will roll & bunch. Try using a zigzag stitch and trim off excess."

Finishing edges of a seam allowance

I started working on a pattern that tells me to finish the edges of each side of my seam allowance and then to press open. I understand the concept that I need to sew at the very edge of each side to prevent it from unraveling. But, what type of stitch am I supposed to use for this?
