"Did you make sure to use stabilizer underneath the project? You can use scrap paper for this (regular old printer paper). Though they sell stabilizer, I exclusively use butcher's paper because I can iron it to the project with the waxy side so…"
Hi I'm Kelly!!! I make usable and wearable art in my little studio nestled in my home. My life is hectic and simple, but we are a very happy family.
I started quilting at 6 along with my great grandma myrtle, painting and drawing at 8, and the rest is history. Grandma Myrtle believed that functional items that exude beauty were the best items to have and that is what I strive for -- to create functional beauty!!
I am most obsessed with sewing because I get to involve all of my inclinations in one piece -- I get to use my love for sketching to get the idea onto paper, draw out the applique, use my aesthetic sense to choose the color palate for the applique and the entire piece.
I am happiest either at my machine, hand stitching, or sorting buttons. Yes, my second love affair is with buttons and you will often find that I choose to add special touches with them. I have been an avid button collector since the dawn of time and continue to try to splurge on buttons when I am able.
If I am not crafting, I am spending time with my family OR I am teaching my son my craft. He is always very inquisitive as to what I am into.
Just as I am eclectic as an artist, I am varied in my education. As an undergraduate I studied and earned a BA Philosophy as well as a BS Mathematics. I studied theoretical (pure) mathematics and went on to take graduate courses for that. Then I went into a Master's degree program for Education.
Soooooo.......that's a bit about the craziness that is Kelly *smiles*
