Hi, just commented on the small stitches in the beginning stitching a garment...I agree with you, have ruined many garments doing that especially if the fabric is black.....Suzanne

Hi Lauren, I used to do alterations in a bridal shop, but the lady retired, so now I just do a few alterations for friends...

I mostly sew for my grandkids and myself, and currently gathering inventory so I can put my things on Etsy.com...

and one of my kitties just loves to see what I'm sewing, she walks in front of my sewing machine and stops so I can pick her up and pet and hold her...no matter what I'm in the middle of, she wants attention...if I don't do that, she will bother me again and again...

Thank You for joining my purse group..I have been sewing for a very long time and worked in fabric stores for over 25 years and loved it.
But, now I am creating purses and occasionally sew garments for myself.

Do you have a whole room to yourself? If so, then you can start slowly. Maybe put things away for now that you don't use often and get them out later when you have figured out where they should go. I am lucky to have a husband who builds things for a living so I have great, custom storage but any kind of storage is better than none. If you are short on money, thrift stores, used furniture stores or garage sales are great places to find old dressers, shelves, etc. Another key to keeping it organized (in my opinion) is regularly going through and getting rid of things you don't use. In my case, that means fabric. I do it about twice a year, probably. Leaves room for more! Anyways, keep us posted (progress and pictures). One of these days I will post pictures of my sewing room. When it is clean...ha ha ha.
