Profile Information

I am an awesome:
Have 4 children; 2 girls, 2 boys; Retired from the Navy after 20 years. Enjoy being a full time housewife/mom. My real passion is quilting. Love piecing and trying all sorts of patterns but especially love miniatures. My oldest daughter is a nurse and married to a preacher. She has a 2 yr. old boy, cute as a button and so smart. Found out last month she is expecting in March of 2010. My second oldest daughter is an army officer stationed in Stuttgart, Ge. and my oldest son has been in the Marine Corp for a year now.
My sewing interests are:
garment, quilting, cross stitch, embroidery
My sewing machine(s):
4 Singers, all usable and a long arm. My favorite machine is the first one I ever bought when I left home. It's over 30 years old and I semi-retired it due to some older parts making a lot of strange noises. My Fashion Mate is in the shop for gear replacement and am now using another Singer I picked up at a thrift shop for $20.00, took home, cleaned and oiled it and it works like a champ! Who needs a Bernina?
I am interested in patterns such as:

Thankyou. The fairy fabric does so make the quilt. I am looking forward to seeing your next projects.

You are too sweet. At this point I have all the yo-yo's made and now I'm sewing them into rows. I'm half way done with the rows. So I don't need any more fabric, but I am very grateful for your offer.

Hey girl...thanks for the compliments on the Puple Haze and Synerg;y quilts. I really appreciate that. I'm still working diligently on my yo-yo quilt and have been playing around with selvage blocks...so much fun. Thanks again, Lynne.

I haven't sewn a stitch on Taylor's quilt yet....... :-( Been working on the bathroom - FOUR coats of paint before I was happy with it! Primer, then first coat - too dark; added a qt of white to 2/3 gallon left - still too dark for that small space; added 1/2 gallon to the now-diluted stuff- light enough now (could be a tad lighter but it will work ok since I am soooooooooo tired of painted those same four walls. Ready for the floor, toilet, vanity/sink and trim. Neighbor who is doing the roof offered to give me enough trim for the ceiling and baseboards - Yippee! Saved some bucks there. I am working the election here Tues am and after that I will call the lady with the camper and let her know I am ready to work on her cushions. And I REALLY need to get busy for the craft show at the VFW Dec 5 if I want to have enough to make any $$$. Gotta finish up with my email and then get busy - goal is to have floor and toilet done today - I MISS MY UPSTAIRS TOILET! Mike & you spoiled me to having one upstairs! LOL I have been sleeping downstairs just so I won't have to go downstairs in the middle of the night; especially with all the construction stuff, cabinet and toilet lining the hallway - arrrrrgggggggggh!

Where on earth do you live? Are you so far away that your kids just don't care or ever see you. What happened to respecting your parents and elders? I hate to say it but I have felt the "change" Obama promised and it's not good. I think we're looking at a newer "Hitler movement".
Did you ask the bank about a signature loan? I know they have higher interest but you don't need a down payment for one. Such a shame.
We have a little Honda 5 speed sitting in our driveway that needs new struts but hasn't been driven in a year. Was my older sons car, (he cracked it up twice), then joined the Marines and bought himself an SUV. We sunk so much money into fixing it that we'll never see daylight on that investment but gee, if you were close enough and could drive a stick, we'd make you a deal! Unfortunately, we're in Pensacola, Fl. or east LA (east of Louisiana). Don't know where you're located.

Yes I know, I remember how it was when I was working. I am now retired on disability and live alone.Yesterday I went to a car lot to buy another car.(The dealer was so nice,he even came amd picked me up)He took me to my bank so I could get a loan for this cute little Dodge Neon I wanted. The bank told me I couldn't borrow the full amount which was only $ 2900 and that I would have to have $825 down payment.
I have been with this bank for 10 years and never borrowed a dime. You would think they would have worked with me but nooooo, I was sent out the door without so much as an " I'm sorry". Just one day in my life I wish I was rich!
Now I am forced to take a cab whenever I go out, that's going to take what little cash I have saved. And OMG, waiting for a cab to come back and pick me up...what a nightmare! I'm up at 3am this morning writing this because I am so depressed I can't sleep.
I see no other way but to sell everything I can to save up the money for a car of some kind.
Thanks for your concern, it's nice to talk to someone, my own kids won't do a thing for me.They all live in another state except my dad and he's 89 yrs old and so stingy he squeaks when he walks! My mom passed away 2 yrs ago, she was the only one who would help me. I hope you never have to go through this with your kids. But sadly, kids are not like they used to be back in the day.Now it's a "dog eat dog world" and it's every man for himself.
Right now I feel like something that was dumped in the trash to rot away.
Sorry I better go, I don't mean to burden you with my problems. Thanks for being a friend, and I wish you all the best. Cherish what you have because it could be taken away in the blink of an eye.
PEACE
Kay

Gestapo is right! I think so many people don't either don't remember or never knew why this sort of nonsense is a bad thing!
Anyhoo - it's too bad you didn't get that pic of your too cute bag! Have fun working on all those Christmas bags. I'm working on my fabric letters too. So far I've made it to "e". guess I'd better get moving!

Thanks for the info but for now I have more pressing issues besides fixing this sewing machine. My car has died and I have to find another one,not an easy chore on a fixed income! Right now I am stranded, can
t go anywhere and no one to take me anywhere. That's what happens when you get old, seems no one cares about you, even family turns up their noses!
