Monofilament hints

Posted on November 22, 2014 at 9:42am 0 Comments

OK - Here's a valuable lesson if you have a machine that 'cuts the thread' with a push of the button, as mine (BROTHER Quattro) will. When using monofilament thread, do NOT use the cutter. Instead, raise the presser foot (however that is done), pull work out and cut the thread leaving a plenty long tail coming from the needle. What happens when using the auto cutter is that since monofilament thread is so 'slick', if just slips out when cut to a…

K – so DD gave me a Groupon for $50 for Christmas (for which she paid just $25) at Coldwater Creek.  So yesterday I ventured out there before making my final packing decisions for my upcoming trip to the Northwest to present at 2 stores.  Searching through the store, I eyed this nice ponte knit pant in one of my SWAP colors:  Teal.  They fit just pretty great actually, so since the deal was $79.99 marked down to $49.99 and then 40% off that made these pants come to just $29.94!  At $12.99…

Londa, you seem to know a bunch about sewing, and I need expert advice! I'm trying to see a comforter and the problem comes in when attaching the thick braided cording. I can't get it close enough to just show the cord on the right side. I have pictures of it on my page. Can you help me??

Hi

Have just watched the You Tube video you did on trying Texture Magic as I have been researching it to do an article on it in the Bags Channel.  I went and looked on your website to see if there were any examples of you using it for collars etc but just found the product itself.  I am posting the article this Friday and would love to add pictures if you have any.

Not exactly given the reins over. My daughter thought she would like to try and create a new Sew Whats New and did so with my blessing. Everything is her work and ideas. I visit to see what's new.

Hi Londa, it's Mary from the "old" Sew Whats New. Your picture is great, and a second wedding gown too. What an undertaking. I remember the lovely job you did on the first one.
