Londa Sews a Boba Wrap Baby Carrier

I think it’s special:  the last thing I stitched in my IL home sewing corner (basement), was a maternity top and pants for my daughter… and the first thing I’ve completed in my new TN sun room sewing studio (check out my NEW sewing view below!) is…a knit wrap-style baby carrier – and more maternity clothes coming up next – at least for my ‘personal sewing’ schedule.                  …See More

Easy Double Welt Pockets

Double Welt Buttonhole Pockets New ‘son’ and Grandson in Wedding Vests with double welt buttonhole pockets.Constructing classic double welt “buttonhole’  pockets is something I’ve perfected for myself over the years, especially back when I made suits for my husband, and SO many blazers for women in my custom dress-making days.  Recently in some ‘wedding dud sewing’, I made these great welt pockets once again on…See More

Modesty Lining for Lace Top

Recently, my daughter needed a pretty lace top for her small, casual wedding.  After looking EVERYWHERE, even online and ordering only to be hugely disappointed in the quality, I started looking online for fabric, but then she found this pretty lace with a bit of lengthwise 'give' at her local JoAnn's Fabric Store.  A 'dive' into my Cream/White Box of knit fabric scraps yielded the perfect creamy knit for a lining and just enough (not an inch to spare!).  Here are the details on how I created…See More

Help name my new Sewing School. The 20' x 30' all season 'porch' at our new home in Jackson, TN will be a sewing shangrila...teaching 'girls' of all ages. (And perhaps an occasional Boy's Camp)

I'm BZ setting up my classes, etc. but need a NAME. Need your help.

Words I like: sewing, studio, creative, connection, sew, stitch

Baby Bump Adaptation for Jeans

Posted on March 21, 2016 at 10:38pm 0 Comments

Yeah – so Dear Daughter can’t find maternity jeans that cost less than $100.  Sewing Grandma-to-be to the rescue!  Laying in bed thinking through this process, it came to me:  Buttonhole Elastic.  This great stuff is found in toddler pants for easy adjusting for tummy growth – so why  not in maternity wear as well!  Shazammm – and daughter agrees.  We are both thinking…perhaps a…

Wedding Remembrance Pillow

Posted on February 14, 2016 at 4:00pm 0 Comments

One of the most fun parts of creating garments for special occasions is having 'left-overs' with which to create gifts!  That was the case for my daughter's recent very small, informal, casual wedding.  Having made her lace knit top and aqua silk sash and the groom and grandson's 'wool' plaid vests and silk ties...it was time for a small remembrance gift.....…

Will try it! Do I need to adjust my tension a certain way? I seem to be having excessive bobbin issues if the foot doesn't meet the feeders

Londa, you seem to know a bunch about sewing, and I need expert advice! I'm trying to see a comforter and the problem comes in when attaching the thick braided cording. I can't get it close enough to just show the cord on the right side. I have pictures of it on my page. Can you help me??

Hi

Have just watched the You Tube video you did on trying Texture Magic as I have been researching it to do an article on it in the Bags Channel.  I went and looked on your website to see if there were any examples of you using it for collars etc but just found the product itself.  I am posting the article this Friday and would love to add pictures if you have any.

Not exactly given the reins over. My daughter thought she would like to try and create a new Sew Whats New and did so with my blessing. Everything is her work and ideas. I visit to see what's new.

Hi Londa, it's Mary from the "old" Sew Whats New. Your picture is great, and a second wedding gown too. What an undertaking. I remember the lovely job you did on the first one.
