Finally Easter is past...

Posted on April 17, 2009 at 6:15pm 0 Comments

I have been so busy at work for Easter. We had 600 people. I made about 4000 individual size pastries for the buffet. I have one part time helper, so this was an awful lot of work for me. None of the items could be finished ahead because there isn't room in the walk-in refrigerators or the freezer to store them without them getting ruined, so I had to finish everything Sunday morning. The buffet opened at 10:30 so I really had to hustle. What a nightmare!

Good news is I received my new… Continue

Just getting started

I have never blogged before, and I'm not much of a writer but I would like to share what I am doing with the wonderful women here.

I am just getting ready to begin my baby blanket business. I plan to make unique designs and sell them at festivals that are held here in the summer and maybe at the pier in Huntington Beach. They have an outdoor market several times a week and I may get a booth there.

I have quite a lot of fabric and I just ordered a bolt of batting that is supposed to be… Continue

Hi Marilyn..Thank you for joining my "We Love Purses" group. I see that you was planning on doing blankets for summer festivals..How is that going? I had thought about doing some farmers markets or craft fairs..but, working full time makes it rather hard for me to get enough product made..maybe next year...Look forward seeing some of your blanket designs..Carla

Hi Marilyn,

Are you still planning on participating in the April Sewing Swap? If so, you need to visit the forum and answer the questionnaire so that I can pair you up with someone. If not, please reply on the forum that you are no longer interested. If I haven't heard from you by the end of the day on Friday April 3rd (tomorrow), I will assume you are not interested.

Thank u so much for the advice about the lycra milliskin fabric I'm working with. I've used spandex B 4, so I didn't think I would have 2 much trouble but anyone who has previous xperience B 4 I use anything new is always a good resource, I always say. I love ur costumes in ur pics!

Hi Larisa, I'm sorry I haven't been able to send a message before now. I have had a very busy time at work the past few days. Your bread looks great. Is that you in the photo or your daughter? I saw on one of you comments about buttons that you once lived in New Zeland. I have not been there but my children are half Samoan and have some family there. I love polynesian customs and arts etc. My baby blanket business is going to focus on island style and I will sell them at polynesian festivals that are held here in the summers and also on Esty. I have been collecting unusual fabric prints and will begin sewing shortly. It will be just me making them, nothing on a big scale. Your costumes are very nice. I used to do a lot of costumes for polynesian dance groups and my son was in a lot of dramatic plays when he was younger and I made a lot for that also. It seems we have quite a lot in common. Tell me about you job at the castle, it sounds like it must be very interesting.
