Marta replied to the discussion 'cost of fabric... tell me!' in the group Fabric Addicts
There are some great online fabric stores and the prices go anywhere from $3 per yard to $16 yd. for good quality 100% cotton quilting fabric. I cant ever imagine spending $16 yd for fabric, especially when you can get the exact same fabric at other…

Marta replied to the discussion 'Who taught you to sew?' in the group Everything Sewing!
Believe it or not, I went to school when they still taught Home Ec. So I had a Home Ed teacher that taught me to sew. I didn't like the class that much then, I just took it because I thought it would be an easy class to get an "A" in,…

Hi Diana, SO sorry, I just got your post today. I couldnt figure out how to get back here, lol. I have a volunteer group that makes prayer quilts for kids with terminal cancer. They are prayer quilts because we put ties on them. Each time they have a visitor, they will tie a knot on their quilt and say a prayer for them. When they are wrapped in their quilt, they are wrapped in prayers. I used to live in San Marcos. U dont belong to any guilds yet, but I need to join something. I love to quilt and I would love to meet other local quilters. That is so cool that you teach quilting at your church. Which church is it. If you would like to email me my email is martagerrity@yahoo.com

I am a member of the two quilt guilds in Hemet, also teach beginning quilting at my church in Murrieta, belong to an applique group in Escondido (I used to live there), one that travels between homes of members in Hemet and Sun City, A TAS (The Applique Society) group in Temecula and I do lots of charity quilting. I need to cut back a little, my right hand is starting to act up and it is getting painful to applique by hand :<( Thanks for letting me know you are out there.

This video demonstrates how to fix / adjust / repair the timing of the hook on a sewing machine. If the thread from your needle isn't getting caught by the hook that rotates around, this video explains what to adjust to fix that. Requires some very basic tools and takes 15-30 minutes - maybe less.
