Wow! All the pics of your sewing room look great! Congrats again on getting it cleared out! I'm impressed your son knows how to sew, and that he actually does it! The whole space is amazingly well-organized. Makes me cringe when I peek at my…
Funny enough, after I read your blog, I searched google for art quilting and saw tons of other quilts that, well, didn't look anything like traditional quilts! I've already got an idea in my head! Lol! Goodness, my husband will not be…
As I don't quilt (yet, haha!) I can't comment too much, but the idea behind your art quilts resonates with me. Being new to sewing, I had the idea that quilts were just old country looking blankets with geometric designs like diamonds and…
@ Mary-lou - Cool idea for your books! I love reading, and if I'm not curled up on the couch with one of my crafts, I'm definitely curled up with a good book! Hope everything goes well for you, recovery AND writing wise!

The great thing about recycled and refashioned clothing is the way that old clothes, styles and fabrics inspire the designers to create something gorgeous and new.
I'm twenty two and just recently taught myself how to hand-sew. I found out in my high school home ec class that sewing machines and I don't get along, and have never had any urge to use one ever again. I've always loved stuffed animals though and been jealous of my moms ability to make beautiful cross-stitch pictures (I hate counting all the teeny holes). When I picked up a book on sock doll making, I was hooked. I'm really just beginning, but I'm enjoying it more and more, and I'm just starting in on embroidering, especially the free-style/doodle-stitch kind.
