"Have you tried using tissue paper under your sheer fabric? Sandwich the fabric between the tissue paper and the pattern piece. This provides some additional stability. Also, try using a rotary cutter where you can. "

Tips on Cutting Sheer Fabrics?

I don't have as much of a problem when sewing/hemming sheers & lightweight fabrics, but when I cut them I can never get clean edges. I read a post earlier about not cutting on the fold. That sounds like it might be a good fix, but then I'd have to transfer the pattern to paper and draw the whole piece. I don't really have a problem with that, but I thought others might have some tips?See More

Profile Information

I am an awesome:
I'm a stay-at-home mom. I am totally addicted to sewing. I have been making children's clothes for a couple of years, but I have recently started making garments for myself. I love the pattern alteration and fitting process. I am still very new at it and totally self taught, so it's going a little slower than I thought it would.

I have enjoyed making quilts in the past. i love freemotion quilting. It definitely takes patience and practice!
My sewing interests are:
garment, home decor, upholstery, quilting
