Repairing ski pants

Has anyone repaired the slits made by the skiis on ski pant legs?  Sewing patches or using heat adhesive  doesn't seem like very likely solutions.  I did find a product called "Liquid Stitch".  Would this work with a layer of utility fabric on the wrong side of the outer fabric?  I would appreciate any suggestions.See More

Profile Information

I am an awesome:
I've been sewing on and off since I joined 4-H at age 7. When our youngest child was about 8, I started sewing for others an began a long-time relationship with one customer. She kept me busy year round making everything from curtains to flower-girl dresses over the next 20 years. My customers increased by word-of-mouth and I've enjoyed every project. My latest was 5 bride's maids dresses and a flower girl's dress from scratch, not just altered, while working full time.
As the clothing industry changes, I find it increasingly difficult to find good fitting clothing without a lot of altering; so I've been making more of my own. Alterations and repairs are always necessary for my husband who works outside. He,too, finds good fitting, ready-made clothing difficult to find.
My sewing interests are:
garment, drapery, home decor, embroidery
My sewing machine(s):
All purpose Singer stylist (1978) and a Singer Scholastic (2003)
I am interested in patterns such as:
No preference, mostly I used Simplicit & McCalls.

Vogue Pattern 1014 Help!

I am making this dress in crepe back satin, (suggested fabric) but the flounce doesn't drape as nice as in the picture.  Would pressing it with steam help?

The asymmetrical lines caught my eye.  Has anyone else sewn this pattern?
