you show 5/8 tubing in the picture, but recommend 7/8 tubing -which is it???? Also, I do NOT like the new format and having to continue to click to find the main idea of the day.  thank you

architectural paper is the best (I think :) and you can iron it and it is sturdier than the pattern tissue paper and you can see through it, so you don't need a light source (glass door or window) and it does come in a huge roll (so split it…

great fabrics!  thanks for sharing.  I love "bargain" books too.   Have you ever tried using a ruffler foot?  It may use more fabric, but NO broken gathering stitches . . .

Thanks for sharing.  I just finished an Ohio Star in black, white and red (twin size).  This would be a great complimentary quilt for the "other" bed.

precious - good to see a "younger" crowd picking up this hobby/tradition and teaching each other.  (I'm sure their gene pool had some contribution :)

Darling pattern!  It seams there is only a gap when the arm is extended - don't extend your arm :)  Perhaps dark elastic could be used (tacked down when you would be tempted to use a snap.)  I think if you attach the sleeve…

I think the "little" embroidery machines are great for beginners and those who don't know it they will (or will not) enjoy machine embroidery.  I have a Babylock ellure and have had it for several years and I REALLY ENJOY…

OLD machine

Posted on April 23, 2010 at 2:58pm 5 Comments

i just picked up an OLD Singer at an estate sale. it probably needs a new motor. The light works and it turns fine by hand. it also has an "ornate" foot pedal. the cabinet could use some refinishing. Can anyone tell me what to do next (and why) to get it back into working order.

thanks,
Sewbusy

Thanks again for your kind words. I think the patience comes from not setting a deadline. They always get finished, eventually!

Thanks so much for the compliment. It was so much fun to make this quilt and I'm so glad everyone seems to like it. Usually I work in earth tones, but for some reason something I saw inspired me to use those colors and I'm really glad I did.
