"I hadn't thought about doing the pattern so that I achieve a chevron look but I do like this idea.  I hae also realized that I have your book and have read though it but now I need to get it back out and go through it several more times."

"Actually I used a slight bias for a Bikini Dress I made for my Swimsuit class. My concern was not the drape, but creating a chevron pattern from the print on the fabric. It sounds like that is something you are trying to do."

"Thanks for the information.  The pattern designer told me that I could use either the straigt or cross grain depending on the look I wanted.  I was concerned with a fabric that has a pattern that needed to be kept straight.  You idea…"

"Are the pattern pieces cut on the fold?  If so, that's your grainline. My apologies if I've posted this twice."

Straight of Grain

I have a purchased pattern for a cape that does not have the straight of grain marked.  Is there a way to add this to the pattern?  I'm new at pattern drafting and am not sure where to start on this one.  Can I put it on a grid and "square" it up?
