Congrats Jill. I did not know you were looking for a new machine....you are sooo spoiled!!! I hope you enjoy it. I have a Husqvarna Diamond with less than 100 hours on it that is looking for a new home if you hear of anybody. It is not my machine…
I have never been to the Creativfest in Toronto but after all the e-mails they are sending me about it I am very, very tempted. I went to the show in Cincinnati in April and bought way too much stuff but I am starting to use it up…
This past week I have been clearing out my basement. I have boxes of mason jars that I had put in the 'Goodwill" pile. I have now taken them back and will use them in my sewing room. Thanks for the great idea. This…
Hello Sharon. What a terrific network this website is. I should have thought to go here first. I guess I need both the pattern and the instructions. Any help would be greatly appreciated. cheers, Warna
I can so relate to marathon projects. Hubby is away for maybe 2 weeks. Painting, making new bedroom drapes, hemming living room drapes, cushions for the couch, embellishing bathroom towels, and lunch with friends are all on the agenda. Of course I…
I have three grown children. I recently became a grandmother to a precious little boy, Diego. I work from home. My hobbies vary from doll making, home decor, and teaching sewing. I have just recently taken up knitting.
Hi Warna, thanks for the warm welcome. I'm a grandmother too and love it. It's easy to sew for the kids as usually there are no major alterations. At least, not yet.
Thank you! I love photography...not very good at it, but I try! I think you'd like Ravelry. My sister in law is on there too and she does the same as you with the knitting groups but says she wont go anymore because she misses my brother because she's away from him and because it's more chatting than stitching. On ravelry her name is bettagirl and mine is BirdieG if you want to look for us! The only group I've joined there is the guinea pig lovers group.
See you 'round!
You're welcome! Congrats on your new grandaby & learning to knit! I've been learning on & off for a year too. I joined Ravelry. Are you on there as well?? Lots of people there who can help if you get stuck!
I bought a serger about a year ago and in their instruction manual it said to avoid black thread if possible. I thought that was odd since I sew a lot in black thread. They recommended using a very dark navy blue instead. I of course disregarded their advice and have had no problem with black thread in either of my sergers. Maybe with some kinds of machine this IS a problem. Hope this helps - if not I hope you know there are people out there who sympathsize with you anguish. I too have fought with machines until I just threw the project down and went and bought a new machine. Laurie
Picking thr pattern can be the toughest part of the whole process. A two-block quilt might be nice. Use all of her clothing fabrics in the pieced block, pick your favorite pattern, and then use a plain block to do your embroidery on. I have seen some red-work quilts done like this. Good luck. I am sure that no matter what you do it will be great!
