What a beautiful dress!
I have not made this dress, but I have worked with chiffon. Since it is slippery, placing tissue paper under the fabric before cutting ( pinning as nec) keeps the fabric from shifting. You can also sew the seams with the tiss…
Hi, I had that parblem, and after using the mesh thread nets, I was able to serger without the thread coming out of tension. Have you tried one yet? It may help, hope so.
I am so far behind! I have been sewing like crazy for my first grandbaby due in Oct. He will be in Ca and I am in Ga. It has been fun, but mostly utilitarian stufff, ( sheets, crib skirt, diaper bag, ultra suede carliner and bunting, burp pads, chan…
Hi! I know that you are excited! A very easy quilt is made by just buying a yd of print fabric, a yd of flannel fabric and putting a thin cotton batting in between and sewing the entire "sandwich " around the edges ( leave an opening for turning) an…
thanks for the tip. Do you buy Nettler online? I hope that I can continue to use the thread I already have, but I may need to change. I never had thread issues with my other Hus. This doesn't seem right that the most expensive machine can't do every…
I am now getting the hang of the serger, I do wish that the web site actually had a video with someone talking thru the instructions. I know that it is cheaper to make presentations, but our machines aren't cheap.
Today was one of those days when I…
I am so glad to be joining this group. I have machined quilted and hand quilted in the past, but now I am eager to learn how to do it using my embroidery machine as well as how to use my quilting straight stitch machine better. I have tried to use t…
hi all,
I am so excited to share and learn about sewing for babies! I have been sewing for many years and sewed for my four boys when sewing wasn't cool. Now I am expecting my first grandson and am ready to sew for babies again.
Smocking is an embroidery technique used to gather fabric so that it can stretch. Before elastic, smocking was commonly used in cuffs, bodices, and necklines in garments where buttons were undesirable.
Married mother of four grown boys, expecting my first grandchild in Oct.

Hello Anna: congratulations on your two new grandbabies!! I have a 20 month old grandson and my daughter is expecting in February so I will be neck and neck with you in the race to accumulate grandchildren. I cannot believe how much we have enjoyed our little grandson. Fortunately for us he lives only 15 minutes away. My daughter on the other hand lives in Nova Scotia which is about 1000 miles away.....thank goodness for seat sales!!
what pattern did you use for your baby accessories? My daughter in law is all about 'brand name' but my daughter is already asking for homemade. I got a new Diamond (Viking - not sparkling) this spring so I am anxious to start churning things out for this new grandbaby. Any hints or direction you can pass on would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch :)
