Go to the menu above and pull down in the menu "Community" link, and click on "sewing blogs". Then when you are at the blogs page just below the menu in the upper right, click on "Add a Blog Post". From this point just start your U.F.O.'s (unfinished objects) discussions. Give it a try and let me know how you do.

That's funny about your unfinished projects. Yes I have some of the same problem with starting projects and leaving them to set for a while, until I no longer have the desire to finish it. It seems like such excitement when you start the project and can imagine what the finished item will look like until you hit a difficult spot or have to leave it for whatever reason. Then all of the thrill of that project just disappears and you are left with a pile of U.F.O.'s (unfinished objects). So your not alone.

Hello ann st clair,
You had left a question for me about what my work consist of at home on the computer, so here is a short answer. I work in communications by way of the computer and work for a German company that is establishing some of it's business here in the states. It is related to the sewing industry and a lot of fun for me.

Also, you were saying something about completing a project that I did not understand, so if you want to shoot that question back to me and clarify, I would love the chance to answer you. Happy sewing!

Not totally up to speed with how this forum works so I am not sure if I have already replied to your comment about my patterns.

Everyone wants me to do a wider range of sizes. This is now my priority so after I finish my second series of videos 'Making a Dress from Start to Finish' I will be revising all my basic patterns and grading them for more sizes. Hopefully that will be finished in a week or so. Thanks for your interest.

I am sorry to have not responded to you before this. I am chronically ill and have had a recent flare up. As a nurse I have been exposed to a bug called MRSA - which is just a form of "staph "that we all have on our skins at all times. Mine has become resistant to Penicillin, s traditional antibiotics don't work. I have an old surgical site in my abdomen that it pockets in. I have had many, many, surgeries. When this flares up, my energy level goes down. If you want, I will go thru my patterns that I either have duplicates of or will never use, and email you their numbers. You can look them up on a site like sewingpatterns.com and if you would like any of them, I will send them to you. I don't care if we trade tit for tat or I just send them to you. I hate to see patterns or material not used. I can tell you that I am a size 20 -22 most of the time. Sometimes I am a 16-18, but usually only if I really try to diet. I also like making purses and hats. I just won some sort of prize last week and I guess I will be receiving a pants pattern, which I can use since I am short waisted and long legged. I would prefer to go to regular email to do the pattern exchange, if it is allowed! I get confused on this web site. My email is [fridayanne@cox.net]. If you are uncomfortable doing this, just let me know and I will try to muddle through finding you on this site. I live in Tucson, Arizona. Where do you live? What kind of patterns were you interested in? I hate to sound like I'm not paying attention but I am also trying to deal with my declining 100year old grandmother and all of my siblings. I just think it is better to trade mailing addresses off this web site. Let me know what you think and again I am sorry I took so long to respond. Working the midnight shift alters lifestyles as well. Bye for now, Laurie Fowler

Hi Ann,

The only advice I have regarding videos would be to check out the video help page, because everyone has different operating systems, hardware, etc. I could not possibly diagnose the problem. You can join the serger group, all are welcome.

Please let me know exactly which Simplicity Patterns you want, and sizes and I will see what I can do for you. :)

This video demonstrates how to fix / adjust / repair the timing of the hook on a sewing machine. If the thread from your needle isn't getting caught by the hook that rotates around, this video explains what to adjust to fix that. Requires some very basic tools and takes 15-30 minutes - maybe less.
