Dear Cindy, Thank you for your help with this. I looked at the Simplicity pattern, but I'm not sure if that is what my daughter-in-law has in mind for her buggy. (I'm making this for my new grand daughter!) I'll show it to her and see what she thinks! D-in-L not baby!
thanks again
Kate
I'm glad to hear you are well. As for site activity, I find that there are sewing questions, just sort of hidden sometimes. There was a good thread going about a pattern layout - it was a doosy - overly complicated, I think. Some of the answers seemed overly complicated too!
I should remember to post my sewing questions more often, rather than just puzzling over them for days and making mistakes.
No hurry on the patterns, I have plenty here I haven't used yet.
OK, so about voting I think you and I may have a lot in common...I too am thinking of voting Green but of course I am fine with "throwing it away" because I usually vote NDP in Calgary!
What are you working on sewing-wise?
Yeah, I love the market...sigh. Unfortunately I was not into sewing when I lived in TO so I didn't go to the fabric district except once to buy some fabric for curtains. I certainly will go there the next time I get a chance though, because even though I love my home town it has diddly for fabric stores. Fabricland, some East Indian stores, a few home decor places and one very "hit-and-miss" huge warehouse type store. Yet I manage to have lots of fabric anyways...
Wow, I sure wish we lived in the same city...I could learn a bunch from you I'm sure. There is one place here I can take some pretty decent courses including ones that basically help you make slopers. Unfortunately I can't take them right now because the times don't ever work with the rest of my life. I swear though I am going to take their bra making course in the next year. I am very hard to fit in that area so would love to make my own. And yes, I do have a "Judy". My one attempt at draping was a miserable failure though.
I took archaeology and anthropology with a minor in english. Such a looooong time ago!
Thanks for the offer of sending stuff from TO. If I think of anything (besides the patterns!) I will let you know!
Let me know how you like Wild Ginger when you get it installed. I am really curious. Ultimately, I would like to learn to draft my own patterns by hand since that seems like the "truest" way to do it. Do you do that too? Man, I would love to take courses but now is certainly not the time.
I know Yonge and Eglington. I had a boy friend who lived near there. Yes, I lived near College and Clinton. For 3 years I lived just off College and Bathurst. I also lived in Kensington Market for a bit. And Bloor and Bathurst. Oh, don't forget Bloor and King. I went to the U of T, then stayed afterwards. I still have good friends there. Someday I will make it back for a visit.
Let me know about the patterns! I look forward to seeing them if and when you find them!
Hi Cindy,
Thank you for writing me back, I am planning on telling anybody that ask me, what I want for Christmas! Any books on sewing, that would make a great gift. Again thank you for your input.
Rhonda
Hi Cindy
I don't visit this site too often-dial up is so slow. Thanks for your comments, i like playing around with options.
to answer your question, I use Bubble Jet 2000 to treat my fabric and then use a canon inkjet printer. There are some good Yahoo groups on fabric printing.
Like yourself I have been working in the hospitality business for the summer, hope to do more sewing in the winter. i had to make an outfit this past week for my nieces wedding which was yesterday. Nothing like pressure to get things done.
I am not really in to Fashion Design but have worked with some people who have taken the course. It used to be available at Holland College in Charlottetown.
Hope i have written this in the right place. Take care
Janet
I guess that is retro, not vintage. Yes, I would be interested in them for certain! Probably more the 70s ones. I can manage without an envelope I think.
I have often thought of picking up a job at a fabric store, but then realize I would never bank my paychecks!
I did not make it to the sewing trade show, sadly. Life is pretty busy these days. I have two small boys, I work half time, my husband works full time...I'm lucky to get any time to sew!
I would like to have WildGinger, but right now we have a pretty low end computer so I think we would have to upgrade first. How do you like it?
Where do you live in Toronto? I lived there for 9 years, mostly west of downtown but not farther out than Portugal Town.
