Hi Vikki...this is my first attempt at "member mixing" so I'm a little vague on the protocol, but I'll start by telling you that I mainly sew home dec. I've sewn for what seems like forever and have done it all. I see you're a quilter. What are you currently working on? I am so amazed by all the gorgeous new quilting fabric available lately. Makes me want to build a stash just to look at!

I also blog about sewing here. I hope you'll stop by!

Thanks Vicki!
What kind of Christmas quilts are you working on? Applique', piecing, or paper piecing? Are you going to post pictures? I would sure like to see them.

Thank you for your nice comments!

The SBS are stitched to the muslin, (use quilt shop quality, heavy duty material), and the bonnet is hand embroidered and/or sewn with ric rac. The first step is to make sure to cut the muslin backing at least a couple of inches larger than you intend for finished size, because when you stitch the SBS on the muslin, that will draw the material up. After all stitching is completed, THEN you cut the blocks to the correct size.

You can embroider on the rest of the dress and sleeves as you would like. And yes, I do stitch in the ditch, but you can also do shadow quilting around each SBS. (Like a circle around the SBS.)

Vicki, if you have any questions or need any help, I will help you the best that I can.

Again, thank you for your nice comments on my quilts!

Patty
