cannot keep my mind clear

I find I will start a project, during this project I will get up to make a cup of coffee or put the laundry in the dryer. than when I go back in the room. My mind wonders and I start doing a different project. I find I always go back to the first project to get it done.
Is this normal or do I just need a break from things once in awhile.

Just getting started

I have never blogged before, and I'm not much of a writer but I would like to share what I am doing with the wonderful women here.

I am just getting ready to begin my baby blanket business. I plan to make unique designs and sell them at festivals that are held here in the summer and maybe at the pier in Huntington Beach. They have an outdoor market several times a week and I may get a booth there.

I have quite a lot of fabric and I just ordered a bolt of batting that is supposed to be… Continue

I have a ??

I just joined this website and group so I am a newbie to this! I have sewn all my life and am now retired and can sew to my heart's content. I recently joined up with a friend who is selling purses. I have designed and refined the patterns for the purses and have now started sewing them. She will start selling them when we have more inventory. I am the worker bee in the "sweat shop". Now I have to decide how much I want to get paid. I want it to reflect my talent and worth but I don't want to… Continue

Joined a Quilting Group

Hello again. Monday I attended a quilt group my dear friend had just joined. I had a great time. Learned how to do machine caligraphy. How cool does that sound. I am excited to try it. I need to make a name tage for the meetings. I am going to use the caligraphy technique. I will post it when I have it done.

Girls'-night-out-sleepover update

Our sleepover was a blast! I was up until 2am, then I has to sleep. I cut and prepared blocks for three different quilts. On Saturday I sewed the quilt for my granddaughter's "Fairy" quilt. Yes I have it all sewn together. Now I will have to get it quilted.

Now, it is on to the next piecing project. Have fun sewing! I… Continue

A cold day in Minnesota.

It's cold today. I am keeping warm by running around the house gathering and packing. I am going to a "Girls Night" at my sister's...we are never to old for a slumber party!

It is always a fun time. I have been gathering projects, picking out fabrics, cutting strips and blocks. Preparing for a day-and-a-half of quilting and socializing. Later this afternoon I will fix a treat to share. There will be refreshments, treats and good company. I am taking projects to work on that need to get… Continue

9 MArch 2009

Well, I did get my sewing room cleaned yesterday, in the midst of dd# 4 coming over to show off her new car.... a very nice one, really! And we are very proud! And gs playing and running through the house (a welcome sight and sound...).

Of course, then having a clean sewing room made me want to sew. So I made these 4 butterflies on my embroidery machine.

My favorites are the blue one and the orange one..... I see the big… Continue

Good Sunday morning!

Yesterday was so lovely and breezy and warm, and now today we are expecting thundershowers again... but thundershowers are better than snow anytime! LOL!

I didn't get wash hung out yesterday like I wanted to, but I had worked the night before, and slept till 1pm! (I usually feel lazy the 1st day I am off!)

Hubby and I did get some grocery shopping done, so that makes me feel better. At least the cupboards are full again for the children… Continue

bow pattern

I am making/designing my daughters wedding dress, and we think we want a big yellow bow tied in the back with the ends of the bow getting wider at the bottom and going all the way to the hem. Any suggestions? Should I double the fabric, or use a handkerchief hem? I am going to make a "dummy" one first, just to see how much fabric I need to buy. I always make a muslin first so that all the fitting is done before i cut into the expensive fabric. Any suggestions would be very helpful. CarlaL
