Making quilts...or not

I am not really a quilter...my cousin Patsy is a quilter,She quilts ALL the time. However I do make quilts occasionally and WISH that I was a quilter.Maybe when I get old (Ha) and don't do other things like volunteering at the school and the church and Girl Guides....maybe. In the meantime I will remain a now and then quilter and enjoy that.

I have just finished a foundation pieced baby quilt for a brand new baby who was born today. It is made from many different fabrics which I used… Continue

Well, I don't think I want to do that but I would like to share my latest sewing & scrapbooking endeavors with friends and family. Awww, what the heck... I'll share them w/who ever is interested in seeing them! Since my focus these days seems to be sewing for my… Continue

Custom Applique Quilts are Simple to Create

To create a unique custom applique quilt, all you need is a simple design.

If the traditional appliques just don't excite you, make your own custom applique design. It's as easy as flipping through a child's coloring book or searching through clip art.

Custom appliqué quilts are perfect gifts for celebrating the birth of a baby. When the mom-to-be picks a less popular nursery theme, it can be hard to find a coordinating gift. That will make your custom appliqué quilt extra… Continue

Preparing for grand babies

After years of waiting for grandchildren, I am finally getting two this year. The one coming in July is supposed to be a girl so I have started a pink, purple and white afghan -- about 1/3 finished. I have put together a cheater cloth alphabet quilt with yellow fleece backing. I still need to bind it. Her Mom is planning on a farm girl theme so I am taking the wallpaper border and making a quilt with the characters. I'll post a pix when I get it together, I think it will be real cute.

I… Continue

Organizing that sewing/craft room

I just came up with a really good idea for holding all of those small (15 qt. or smaller) sterlite/rubbermaid boxes. I use to have a closet organizational system in our old house and those boxes fit on it beautifully. Then we moved and I no longer had anything to stack the boxes on, except each other (crummy when you need the BOTTOM box). Today I went to one of those stores that sells things cheaply (Tuesday Morning in this case). Low and behold I found a hanging, canvas clothes organizer (the… Continue
