I am sewing my grand daughters their suits for gymnastics. One of the fabrics I am working with is like a stretchy velor, and I haven't sewn with anything with a nap for so long, I can't remember if I should have the nap going down or up the garment????? Help please.... Mary

PatternReview.com featured the pattern for this spiral flounce skirt "for girls who want to twirl." Apparently it's an easy pattern to follow, and it can be done in a variety of patterns and solids. I can't wait to try it for my four-year-old... and might even try it for myself!…

I've been working on minis for an empty wall in the office/ den. This is "Tree 'O Life" by Piece of Cake Designs. One of my previous quilts used orange and purple and I got alot of comments on how people liked that unlikely combo of colors. This combination of orange and turquoise has been another revelation: "Who knew!" My picture is crooked but the hanging is actally straight...taking photos is not something I'm very adept…

This is my thrid entry trying to find out information about zippers. I am new to the website and is still trying for figure out where to put what! My question is exactly where do you start on the unlapped side of a lapped zipper? Is it in front of the zipper stop, behind it or beside it?

I love lapped zippers because they completely hide the zipper, but there is a part of the construction I am not sure about. Exactly where do I start the unlapped (hope that is a word) portion of the zipper. Is it just above the zipper stop, below it, aligned with it....Where? I'm introducing my grandaugher to sewing and I want to make sure I give her sound advice as well as get the answer for myself.
