Last spring I made a Beach Bag for Sue using the Totes Ma Tote pattern by Emmaline Bags in this nautical print cotton canvas and Royal Blue cotton duck canvas. It looked smart and carried quite a lot inside, and secured with a recessed zipper.
When I saw her over Christmas she asked if I could make…Continue
I am replacing the elastic on 3 king sized fitted sheets for a friend. What I need to know and cannot find anywhere is how much elastic do I need to thread through the casing? All of the elastic is worn and stretched out. I am bleary eyed from searching on google for this information. I need to put this elastic ALL THE WAY AROUND THE SHEETS. NOT JUST THE CORNERS. The woman I am doing this for wants the…Continue

I had not made a bag for a while and decided to get my sewing mojo back by making something new out of my stash. I chose the Sunrise Saddle Bag by Dog Under My Desk as I like the curvy shape and knew Erin's instructions are always clear and detailed.…Continue

My mail today was pretty exciting! I opened an advance copy of Altered Couture Magazine that contains my up-cycled top as a feature article! This Stampington magazine is ‘The Ultimate Guide for Artwear Enthusiasts” – which, I suppose I have become since this is my absolutely FAVORITE type of creative sewing.
The 2 piece knit top from…Continue

I needed a bag for carrying towels and a key for when I service the gardeners' toilet here on the Estate (Hoveton Hall Estate). I didn't need a structured bag, I needed something light, so I went back to my vintage 70's bag pattern, Style 4143. I always make it two inches shorter than the original pattern, as despite the picture (top left) it would not really fit over the shoulder comfortably…Continue
I have a Husquvarna #1+ sewing/embroidery machine and purchased the Customizing Pro Customizing Embroidery System 5 to go with it. Unfortunately I cannot find the software disc now. But my computer with it on it may die some day since it is very old. I would like to have a copy of the software so that I can install it on any new computer that I get. Husqvarna has no copies. Is there any way I can get one?

Hello, we have the Husqvarna Designer 1 machine. We are looking for a copy of the disks 100 4 set disk. If we can just get the files off each disk, in separate folders we can copy them onto disks. We purchased this machine used and these disks were missing.
thank you, Paul
After I made my first floral Mabel handbag, (free pattern from Swoon) I decided to follow up with another one. This time I am using one of these great case handles I had bought, adding another divided slip pocket and bag feet.…
Check out my final trimmed and sewn ‘Onesie’ for granddaughter Kenzie’s Aug. 7 birthday! It’s been ‘in process’ for some time since we live 7 hours away. Of course you’ll get to see it ‘all together’ on the beautiful model, but we’ll both just have to wait.
Today, I finished the Onesie – and I must say, I think it’s pretty darned cute – but it will be even cuter on our baby!…Continue
Christine has issued a new Easy Street pattern called Fiona's Freeway which has the option of adding accents in cork or vinyl. As I have been curious to try cork fabric I decided this was one I had to make!…Continue

I bought this dress for my niece's wedding in July, it was just so pretty I couldn't resist it! Then I realised I didn't have a bag to go with it! Can you believe it, all the bags I've made, and I have nothing small, pretty and floral!…Continue
After I made these cushions for my new florist friend, she asked me to make her a bag. She wanted one big enough to carry her laptop and paperwork when she went to visit brides to discuss wedding flowers, with her logo on it. …Continue

Today, I’m sharing my techniques for hemming a knit garment. There are many ways to ‘skin the cat’, in this case the ‘cat’ being a knit hem. What I CAN tell you is that the ‘way’ instructed in most patterns will NOT work! Simply turning up a knit hem and stitching WILL yield a wobbly mess. Give this technique a try and I think you might just LOVE it!
That means put a knit fusible interfacing the…Continue
