Festive Fabric Envelopes from Table Runners

I just finished making two fabric envelopes to send my moms and mom-in-laws gifts in. I went to the dollar store and purchased a table runner that came to a point on both ends and had a tassle. I cut both ends in a length that when folded in half would hold a card and then folded the tassled pointed end over as the flap and voila! A… Continue

Tension dial problem!!

I've been having a problem with the bobbin thread being to loose. It was fine last week when I was working on another project but now it is not wanting to work with me.

I've cleaned and oiled my machine (Janome MC 4800QC). Made sure I'm using the correct bobbin, thread, needle (changed all 3 with new) and have rethreaded multiple times.

Also attempted with a different fabric.

Know I need to adjust the tension dial but the dial will not budge. I can get it to move a small amount,… Continue

Fancy Pants aka Stretch Lace Panties

If you've never attempted sewing your own panties, I urge you to give it a try. You'll need approximately one yard of lace (more or less depending on your hip size) and a small piece of cotton knit. I prefer cotton jersey.

The panties I'm going to show you today are called Stretch Lace Panties. Sometimes they are called Brazilian Huggers or Hipsters. They take only three seams to sew together. The cotton lining is optional, though I highly recommend taking the extra few minutes… Continue

'Til the Cowls Come Home

Have you all seen the yummy cowls/circle scarves on Etsy yet? I would

love to be able to knit a humongous cowl...sadly I'm not so inclined. I did see some fabric & fleece ones I liked, but the Hancock's sale fleece I ordered probably hasn't even left the warehouse yet. Instead of waiting, I raided the closet. Not what I wanted, but it was practice anyway and practice makes perfect (sometimes).

Here's what ensued...…

Stretch Lace Heaven

Oh my golly! I racked up at Mary Jo's last evening! I stopped counting at 25 yds. of stretch / lingerie laces. Mary Jo's has the best selection of stretch lace I have ever seen. There are many colors and widths from which to choose. The ladies in my family are going to have the best panties this Christmas! LOL Every piece of stretch lace I found was priced at a low and reasonable rate of only 79¢ per yard. Here's a look... …

Bridal Gown Creating a French Under Bustle

Last month my customers brought her purchased Wedding gown wanting a French Under bustle. Her maid of honor suggested to mark the ribbons and loops with a marker so that the lacing would be easier for her. My solution is as follows.

At the anchor points parallel to the botton of the zipper I made 4 loops on either side. I used contrasting 3/8" ribbon (White and Baby Blue) alternating white/blue. Then on the bottom of the skirt at the pick up points I used the same the alternating… Continue

Braiding foot

I did a google search and it is a Bernina foot and it is used for couching. Just uses a larger piece of yarn or similar item to couch onto something else.
