This tutorial is great, but it stops short of finishing those raw cut edges--they should be bound off with a zig-zag overcast or overlock to prevent them from fraying in the wash. Also, because this little hem can roll forward, topstitching the seam allowance down next to the seamline ditch will hem to flatten it.
p.s. I'm tall and when my pants or jeans are too short, I often narrow the legs so they become ankle length narrow pants in the Audrey Hepburn style, or go all the way an make them capri length.
