Sew, What's New?

Curating sewing and quilting talent, techniques, and tutorials, since 1997.

Well, our lives have been turned upside down this past week. Instead of Kayla (due on July 28th) we got Isaac (due Oct 17). When we got the call at 1:30 am on the 29th, it was son #3 instead of son #2. Isaac arrived a couple of hours later at a whopping 2 pounds, 14+ounces -- 13 inches long. He was whisked off by the NICU transfer team soon after birth. He is now about 1 1/2 hours away but is doing great -- getting stronger hourly. They are still saying it will be a couple of months before we can have him home. It is going to be a long haul making all those trips, but I'm so proud of the parents, they are taking it all in stride although this is not what they had planned at all. I could use some advice on preemie needs. Already they have asked for plain receiving blankets -- no decoration or texture, just plain flannel. Last night, his Mom asked if I could come up with a smaller version (about burp cloth size) to cover his eyes. They have them at the hospital, of course, but she wanted something that was his alone. So that is what I'll be doing today.

As of last night -- still nothing happening with Kayla. I'll keep you posted. And please keep Isaac in your prayers. Thanks, pat
