Sew, What's New?

Curating sewing and quilting talent, techniques, and tutorials, since 1997.

My single male friend's son is in a play, he is to be an acorn.
Please help my friend to figure out how to make an acorn costume.

Any pattern's of suggestions on how a father can get this costume together
in an inexpensive manner and have his son still look good!

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. The clock is ticking with less then
a week till the play.

well, he (or are you sewing it?) could do a pumpkin costume and just change the fabric colours. I know you can get patterns for pumpkin costumes at halloween time so perhaps someone out there has one. The other thing I can think of is to sew a tube of brown fabric (felt or fleece would work well)and gather it at both ends but leave enough room for the head. Then cut holes for the arms and legs and wear a brown toque (knit cap). The body part would have to be stuffed with something. I have used plastic bags in the past. Could be pretty warm all together though!
