I am making/designing my daughters wedding dress, and we think we want a big yellow bow tied in the back with the ends of the bow getting wider at the bottom and going all the way to the hem. Any suggestions? Should I double the fabric, or use a handkerchief hem? I am going to make a "dummy" one first, just to see how much fabric I need to buy. I always make a muslin first so that all the fitting is done before i cut into the expensive fabric. Any suggestions would be very helpful. CarlaL

Thanks Brenda, that is great advice. The dress is done except for the hemming and the tie.

What kind of fabric is the wedding dress made of? I would make it double-sided. I would sew it with right-sides together and then turn it, making crisp corners. How elegant it sounds.
