Sew, What's New?

Curating sewing and quilting talent, techniques, and tutorials, since 1997.

But it needs decorating, my brother started stripping the old wallpaper so that the walls can be nicely plastered. I am very grateful for his help but he seems to want to do it in his own time and I get frustrated because I want it done like 'now'. I have now decided to have a go at it myself because the room that I sew in at the moment feels suffocating.

The sewing will have to wait now (ouch) I need to speed things along. Does anyone else feel as though, if you dont get up and do it yourself it never gets done?

Progress looks wonderful!  Don't the creative ideas flow so much more easily when you are in a space that is organized and you love being in?  Enjoy!

My sewing world is done

Here is the sewing room getting its make over  walls were stripped and re-plastered. The walls were painted once the plaster had dried. I also tried my hardest to recycle everything possible which included paints and timber..

The window is dressed I made the curtains and I wanted them exactly how you see them. The cost for them was £7.00 and the new rail from Ikea was £6.00 (yippee)

This is where I will sew all my creations, the wood here is recycled and put to use from other projects. The hubby will finish painting the pine shelf which is removable as well if I needed extra space and I am considering some shelf space above on the wall.

My favourite is this work station. The chest of draws was painted and I braided these handles with a pink and regular colour rope, you can buy them from the hardware store, however mine are from his tool box. Lol. I keep in the top draw all my threads, 2nd draw scissors rulers etc and so forth. Underneath the workstation I will get some storage trays on wheels to store my fabrics, wool and whatever else need be, ‘can’t think off the top of my head’.

I also replaced the floor boards with carpet to give the room a more cosy and resourceful space that can be used too. Hubby has to finalise the finishing touches such as completing the woodwork painting.

I really wanted to share it with all my SWN friends because you all helped me to be patient and persevere. I now have a huge space to work and feel free.

Meanwhile on the other side of the room will be my office.

Update on my sewing world. Hubby and I have been sick over the holidays and havent quite recovered as yet, however he has managed to paint the walls, they need another coat even though I am getting rather anxious. He said as long as he is decorating the room it has to be done his way, (professionally) 'tut' but I understand what he is saying. He still have to build my work station and work tops for the sewing machine and serger. Please can my SWN friends continue to reassure me that patience is a virtue. At least I have done the curtains!

Hi all, a quick update of my sewing room (world). The plasterer is in working on the final wall and it will be finished today. He said to give a week to dry out because it is very cold now. I am going to visit Ikea for window dressing (voille)and perhaps check the fabric fella (Mark ) for heavier fabric to make some curtains.(This is like a soap opera).. lol There will be another update as soon as more progress emerge.

Miss Creativity, good things come to those who wait--at least that's what my mom used to tell me.

Hi all, it looks like a long haul before I can get my sewing room. The plasterer is booked in to start work in a weeks time so I am pretending to be patient.. lol. In the meantime I am choosing voille, Curtains, colours and arrangements for the room. :-)
