Loved this tutorial, been shortening jeans all my life and hating it...broken needles, wrong thread, skipped stitches, etc. This has been eye opening. Thanks so much for sharing. And thanks to all of you with the extra tips to finish it off.

Interesting, but keep in mind if the hem is deep and the legs are tapered (in or out) at the hem it may not work well.  One can tell this by turning them up first and seeing if hem fits well all the way around.

This tutorial is great, but it stops short of finishing those raw cut edges--they should be bound off with a zig-zag overcast or overlock to prevent them from fraying in the wash.  Also, because this little hem can roll forward, topstitching the seam allowance down next to the seamline ditch will hem to flatten it.

p.s. I'm tall and when my pants or jeans are too short,  I often narrow the legs so they become ankle length narrow pants in the Audrey Hepburn style, or go all the way an make them capri length.

Oh what a great tutorial!!! I am usually the one having to shorten jeans for my daughter & myself, what a great tip, so much simpler than the way I have been doing things. I love it! Can't wait to do the next pair of jeans :)  Thank You !

I usually never have the problem with pants being too long as I'm 5'10", but with my sons and their growing spurts, this will come in handy.  Thanks for sharing it with us.

This is great! I have had some J Jeans for over a year that I always have to roll up and I've been wanting to hem them but didn't want it to look amateurish. I am 5'9" so I've never had pants that were too long for me before! Thank you so much for posting this link.
