Sew, What's New?

Curating sewing and quilting talent, techniques, and tutorials, since 1997.

Does anyone have any experience sewing on leather furniture.  I currently use a curved needle and I purchase upholstery thread from Joann Fabrics.  I also purchased some suter (sp?) needles from a veterinary site and I bought a sewing glove.

Thanks!

My brother has a furniture restoration company.  I get most of my referrals through him.  But I am starting to get my own clients now.

I also have a request to repair a YKK zipper.  Do you have any advise?  I would rather not buy my supplies at Joann's.  Although I shop there quite often there are times I would rather go else where.

Good on you!  The techniques are the same in many ways, we just use different tools, machines and thread etc.  How did you get into it?  Come on over!

Awesome!  I do onsite upholstery work.  My company is Cabin Fever.

Also, I don't know if you've seen it yet, or not, but we have a small group of members using industrial tools, sewing machines etc.  You can join us here. All welcome!  I personally do a lot of marine sewing, some vinyl work as well.

Well I don't know.  It is a small curved needle that I bought at an upholstery dealer.

Oh!  LOL!  Are you using a diamond tip needle?

I really don't have a question just open to suggestions to make the job easier.

I do this by hand.  Usually my middle and forefinger are pretty sore for a bit so I am interested to learn about tools or tricks to make the jobs easier and faster.

Ok what is your question...  I know someone who might be able to help out.  :)
