Sew, What's New?

Curating sewing and quilting talent, techniques, and tutorials, since 1997.

Well I just finished another t shirt surgery.  I bought a pink tee at Goodwill for my DD. She is 5 weeks pregnant, so I decided to use the tee to make her a cute top.   I had bought some black cotton with hot pink swirls at Hobby Lobby.  I cut the top off below the bust, cut and gathered enough fabric to make a full, maternity top.  I made and attached 2 ties so she can "grow" into it.  I made some jersey flowers a while back, and am gonna put these near the shoulder.  I think she will like it. Bought a green t also that day. I saw a maternity top tutorial (do not remember which one), and simply added about 5" elastic to the bottom hem, placing it vertically at each side seam.  It just makes it look totally different with the little gathered section.  I will take pics of her wearing them and post them.  I am on this REALLY big t shirt surgery kick.  I have printed, NO LIE, just short of a ream of paper with t shirt surgery projects.  I hope to get to every one of them at some time or another.  I ordered a Amy Butler bag pattern off ebay and it came in yesterday.  I am gonna head to the fabric store tomorrow and find some drapery remnants to make the bag from.  They are $4 a yard, but I have a 40% off coupon! Everyone have a good day, and happy sewing!
