Tired of unsightly necklines that don’t lie flat and gape?
Well this easy to follow tutorials for you! Let me show you how to alter your sewing patterns to stop those wave shaped necklines to create a better, flatter more shaped fit to your garment.
Tip – Reducing fullness is the key!
1: Start by removing the seam allowance from the neckline of your sewing pattern. This aids in getting a better overall fit.
2: Draw a straight line from the middle of the neckline (or where the gaping seems to be happening) to the armhole.
3: Cut along that line from the neckline to the armhole but stop just short of cutting the sewing pattern in two. Now place a small sheet of paper underneath.
4: Take the upper part of the sewing pattern and overlap it over the lower section to the required amount. Now pin or use sticking tape to hold into place.
5: Re-draw the neckline shape into position and adjust any other pattern pieces such as facings and collars.
6: Add your new seam allowance and cut out to complete the process.
