Kali Nicole was sick with the flu this week but had a refashioning itch she just couldn't resist! This project is super easy and would be perfect for any skill level. I like the recycle idea for updating an old or unloved garment. Your video was easy to understand.
What kind of machine do you use? I normally don't sew over pins on any machine that isn't a slant needle by design. Lots of times, pins get hit with the needle when sewing and the danger is that I've been hit in the face with a needle that broke. I was thinking of the hazard that could cause others.
Also, in application of the zipper, do you generally put a hook and eye at the top of the closure?
I loved the idea of the pockets too. Do you think you could sew the pockets in place using the fabric without sewing it under to create matching frayed edges for the finish? I thought it would look cute that way.
I use the gold thread for sewing denim outside seams but have also used red button hold thread. It adds a different pop of color! You could also use a different color zipper and sew it on the outside of the garment for a style change that seems the rage these days.
Thanks!
