Process: Making Felted Capelets with SmallStars

Claire Townsend of http://SmallStars.etsy.com had a very bad day at the laundromat a while back. Despite being a costume designer and handling fabric for a living, shes not always careful with her own stuff. Some of her vintage sweaters from the 1950s and 60s accidentally made their way into a dryer full of jeans. They came out much smaller and very felted.

This is fabulous. Great look. I have a sweater coat I had accidentally put in the dryer. It has been hanging around for a long time waiting for repurpose, recreate inspiration. This may be just the direction I need to go. That is when I recover my sewing room again. I had to transform it into a guest bedroom for a while.

Love the cape!

I have so many ideas for old sweaters...now to find the time to play with them.

Thanks for the idea and showing how you did it. Your embellishments were just the thing for this cape.
