Easy Quilted Fabric Postcards - Tutorial by the Crafty Gemini

In this week's video tutorial I teach you how to make cute and simple fabric postcards...that you can actually send off in the mail. This a great beginner project that even kids can do! It requires some fabric and batting scraps, rulers, rotary cutter + mat (or a pair of scissors),printer paper or cute scrapbooking paper and some kind of fabric glue stick or adhesive.

You can take this a step further and if you sew a gift for someone or to sell, include a matching card.  This would be great for someone who buys something you made that way the card matches and they don't have to get out and hunt for one.

You could also do this idea on a traditional folded card.  Just put the fabric on the front only.  Or heck, why not try the front and the back.

Cute idea.  For those that want to make them to be written on after you piece them together and sew around the edges, I suggest using a protective sheet of plastic, PUL or waxed paper between the batting and the paper.  Plus using scrapbooking paper would make them really nice too.  The thicker cardstock papers would make them easier to write on.  Try it and let me know how you like it.

For the plastic, you can use what you already have at home or what you buy:  Plastic wrapping from products like paper towels, toilet tissue, sheets sets, etc.  You can even use the plastic bag inserts from cereal, etc.

Aw, these are adorable!!! What a creative and sweet idea. I definitely want to make these :] I agree with Candy. that would be perfect, because then you could just use a marker to write on them after they were made, and it wouldn't bleed. How cute!!!!

I would insert a ticker paper between the batting and the address paper to avoid the ink from getting to the fabric.

Very cute. Is there a way to use these for gifts? How can they be made so that people could write on them afer they are finished instead of before?
