The hem stitch. This is a lesson on the classic hem stitch which is done by hand. There are many types of hem stitches, some hems are done by machine and some are done by hand. This style of hemming is best suited to classic garments like a good suit, a beautiful dress or perhaps a great pair of dress slacks, and works well with hems that have been prepared with seam binding.
