A note to anyone watching this video... it was filmed at a school. I am hoping this was a community education class rather than one for actual credits because there were a lot of poor work practices shown.

I don't know how clear it is that pattern makers are the technical backbone to the entire manufacturing process. Our job is really a combination of three types of engineering -materials, design and industrial. Perhaps it won't come to anyone's surprise that this is why pattern makers usually earn twice as much as designers. Ours is an engineering degree as opposed to designers who major within the school of liberal arts.
