Learning to Felt

Posted on January 14, 2012 at 10:28pm 0 Comments

Sometimes being a writer means almost no time for sewing and crafts.  But sometimes it forces me to be creative and devote time to these activities.  Never enough time, but a little is better than none!  Right now I'm learning to felt!  I love it because it's quick and rewarding and just look at this ornament and necklace!!

I'm adding felting to the next…

Be patient girl.  She's only 10, she'll get there.  I have a very similiar situation.  I have an incredibly talented 14 yr old with an amazing voice, but getting him to put his heart into it just makes me crazy sometimes.  P.S.  You can check my son out here:

Oh, Angee, great idea!  We made aprons for teachers for Christmas and she loved that.  She just doesn't seem driven on her own to go sit and mess around.  Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part that she'd do this.

I think the best way to teach is to have her dive right in.  Have her make a simple totebag for school (you dont' even need a pattern for that).  Even better, have her make matching ones for herself and her bestie.  Making and giving is a sure fire way of her getting excited when she hears all the praises she'll get.

Thank you!  It'll take me a while to get my feet wet here.  I really want to find a way to help teach my daughter to sew.  It's hard to teach!

My series isn't available yet.  You can preorder now;  Pleating for Mercy will be available August 2, 2011.

Here's the link to my site (Pleating for Mercy: ) (am I allowed to put that here?) with info on it.  Thanks for asking!
