TUTORIAL: Sewing Narrow Hems

I have a confession to make. I am really LAZY when I sew. I mean it. If there is a faster/cheaper/easier way, I will always take that route.

Circle skirt hems are a great example. First of all, I usually steer clear of circular hems. I have suffered some emotional trauma at the hands of the curving skirt hem, and I generally avoid them. But, when I can't…

Sometimes...it's Better to BUY clothing & Pressing Hints

K – so DD gave me a Groupon for $50 for Christmas (for which she paid just $25) at Coldwater Creek.  So yesterday I ventured out there before making my final packing decisions for my upcoming trip to the Northwest to present at 2 stores.  Searching through the store, I eyed this nice ponte knit pant in one of my SWAP colors:  Teal.  They fit just pretty great actually, so since the deal was $79.99 marked down to $49.99 and then 40% off that made these pants come to just $29.94!  At $12.99…

I've been doing some reading about sewing pockets because I seem to really mutilate whatever idea I have and end up sewing on those plain old patch pockets.  I'm tired of patch pockets and want to try something new.  I'm sharing with you, what I have been able to find today in hopes that you are inspired to sew too! …

Put Pressure Foot PRESSURE to Work!

As I stitch, and continue to learn how to really utilize the awesome features of this Brother Quattro 3, a feature I'm falling in love with - and have never had before - is presser foot PRESSURE. Hitting the notebook icon in the lower left corner of the screen, it is normally 3 - which when attaching Lastin Clear Elastic as a stay in a shoulder seam as shown in the lower piece in the photo - really puts too much pressure on it,…

When people know you sew, they say "I thought you might be able to use this" about all sorts of things.  I was recently given an old sewing box.  It was full of cards of darning wool, vintage wooden cotton reels and lots and lots of needles!…
