Refashion Tutorial - Long Sleeves to Bow Sleeve T-shirt

If you've ever checked out my blog you'll know I love to change things up,  my Hand-Me-Down Horror series has been all about buying yucky or just plain boring clothes and making them into something I'd be proud to wear. Hack off those sleeves, raise that hemline and bob's your uncle a cute custom…

I think my tractor's sexy!

It's been a super long time since I logged in....months.  But, I got busy with everything else and now, I'm missing all my SWN friends!  I am making quilts.  I have been making them a lot lately. I have about 5 tops that I have to hand quilt.  I have a quilt for my brother in my quilt frame.  It's a "goose creek" block, with Farmall tractors (aka International tractors).  It's in blacks, reds, and white.  It's pretty, but has a lot of quilting.  My fingertips are awful looking! I wouldn't even… Continue

Refashion Tutorial: 10 Minute Trousers to skirt

I can't believe I've never done this one before but I think you're going to like it, it's so quick and easy, no measuring just snip, sew and Bob's your Uncle a cute skirt from a hideous pair of Clown trews (trousers/pants) and when I say you can do this in 10 minutes this is a very comfortable 10 mins, no pedal to the metal sewing needed.

What you… Continue

Chilford Quilting Festival 11/3/11 (outskirts of Cambridge, uk)

I have been to the Chilford Quilting Festival today, with 3 friends, and it was fabric-heaven!!

There were loads of quilts being shown in the centre of one of the barns, they were beautiful.  However, I must confess that I was shopping for bargains so much that I didn't have too much time for the vewing lol!!

All around the perimeter of this room were stalls selling everything,

horn cabinets, (gorgeous, but outta my price range),

books (hundreds of…

Piggy Bed runner finished!!!

Well, I have finished the piglet / pigs / bed runner, I am very pleased.  I will be posting photos as soon as I can.  I used iron on fusible interfacing/lining, successfully, as the fabric was thinner than I thought (that's the trouble with ebay, you can't really see how thick the fabric is)   It was easier than I imagined and the effect was great.

What next?  Well, watch this space lol =)

My Attempt at Recycling

In my small way I am attempting to recycle. No, I don't always save cereal boxes or newspapers, but I have found a way to recycle old clothing and fabric. I have found a great source for used clothing at two resale shops in my area. Clothing there sells for no more than $2.00 an article. The profits from these items goes to charity and I find gems. I constantly find name brand mens shirts for as little as $1.00.My husband is thrilled that I find golf polos that otherwise we could not… Continue
