I recently made this reversible dress for my newborn niece. I always wanted to make something with this Aviary 2 fabric and I love how it turned out.
Here's the pointer to the tutorial:…

I am starting a sewing business called Kouture Boutique. I am selling things like camera bags and things like that.
I sew clothes all the time...for my daughter. For me? Not so much. Even simple repairs like sewing on a button, or hemming a pair of pants languish for months in my unfinished pile, before they get to…

I was designing a new, simple jacket this last week and wanted to share a bit of that process. No surprise - it is another jacket on a comfy sweatshirt base. Whenever I clean out my closet, garments and accessories get 'evaluated' for re-purposing in creative ways. That was exactly what happened with this square (33'') fringed scarf which I've had - FOREVER - but rarely worn. …Continue
I would like to share what I did with a purchased bridal dress for a woman who was 3 feet tall.
Not only is this woman the height of 3 feet she was born with a disability, she only has one arm with only one finger. She came into the store I work for looking for a bridal dress. The consultant that was helping her called me out to the floor to assist with the choice and also to see if I could do the alteration. As it turned out she bought a dress that was one of the largest…
Ok I lied, a couple more medal ribbon posts for you.…
When I first heard about free motion embroidery I was still at school. Unfortunately my Elna Lotus could not drop it's feed dogs I gave up on that dream. Then a few months ago I picked up Poppy Treffry's book "Free & Easy Stitch Style" in the library, and just loved her stuff. I then realised my new Janome DC3050 could drop it's…Continue

I bought them from http://www.etsy.com/shop/charliesaunt at 16.18 and received them at 16.25! I downloaded them, and printed out The Poachers Bag (16 pages).
I did the front page on glossy photo paper so I got the full…Continue
I would like to upload some pictures of my latest projects but I have no idea how to start. Is there a place on our site with step by step insructions? I have been off for a long time, at least it seems like it, so many wonderful ideas and things that we all want to share. I wrote an update as to what I am doing and didn't know what to push, did not want it on any social sites so I clicked share,…Continue
I have been thinking of starting my own sewing business but retail fabric is getting expensive, even when it's on sale. Can anyone point me in the right direction on where to start? I found a post a few months ago on this issue but can seem to find it.
I have put a free pattern in my website that can be inserted into a quilted cushion or bag.

The final stage of the Modern She Made Flickr Swap is the receiving of lovely goodies in the mail. Being (usually) an international participant generally means a longer wait. And so you wait, hoping everyday that today is the day the postman has a package just for you. And then - yippee - it arrives. And it was sooooo worth the wait.…
Although I am happy to convert a pair of jeans or a skirt to a bag, the rest of the time I prefer to use a pattern. In my search for the ‘ideal’ bag I have come across some very talented ladies from far and wide, and I want to introduce them to you. I am going to start with a home grown talent here in the U.K.

Okay, I am going to "piggyback" on a previous Superior Threads video post because since I saw that post I have viewed several of their videos and am hooked! Bob Purcell, "Chief Threadologist of Superior Threads", holds a wealth of interesting and in my opinion invaluable information in that brain of his and he is sharing it on these videos. They are posted in…Continue
