Nai'Lahs dress

I modified the pattern by not adding the sleeves. The dress is lined so there was no need to create a finish for the neckline or sleeves. The pattern was easy to follow, but I am not sure it is a pattern for beginners.

I have just…

I'll be sewing clothes for my brand new granddaughter! I am also teaching myself with aid of videos, how to hand smock. A friend in San Fransisco sent me her pleater. How cool is that. Anyway...I don't need the machine to do lots of fancy things, but it should… Continue

The fabric chosen for these dresses is Dupioni Silk. The pattern called for using lace for the bodice inset. The colors of the dresses made it difficult to use the basic lace that is offered commercially. Although I could have hand dyed the…

It looks sew easy on TV

The good news is that I've memorized and made myself familiar with all the parts of my sewing machine. I also can sew in a straight line and have all my supplies. The bad news is that I goofed laying my pattern out on my fabric. My blue skirt looks like a pillowcase. (Sigh)

But, I'm not giving up! Tomorrow is another day and I've got lots of fabric and a seam ripper.
