Viking Designer SE Sewing Machine Repair Costs!

I own a Viking Designer SE.  The computer went blank and I actually smelled smoke.  I got 2 quotes of $800 to replace 2 computer 'boards' + labor.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me.  That price is just way over the top, it seems.

Help! Husqvarna Ruby Deluxe Thread Cutter in Wrong Position!

Help! My Ruby deluxe keeps jamming and I can't manually pull up my bobbin thread after threading my machine.

When I opened the thread plate to check for lint, the thread cutter is in the wrong place. The shuttle like unit that should tuck in on the left is on the center and the metal L-shaped arm arm in the back right in in a lowered position so it engaging with the bobbin case and the top thread is getting caught in the cutting groove on the arm so it can't pull back up to the…
