Sew, What's New?

Curating sewing and quilting talent, techniques, and tutorials, since 1997.

Probably not, because chances are you're a lot more organized than I am!. I've already revealed my lack of a sewing room *sniff* & organization of my fabrics & supplies. I'm trying to remedy the latter, really I am. Getting the supplies organized means I can actually have more time to do what I love, so I'm really working on it!

Since I have no fantastic place to store my bobbins "yet" I've resorted to the a tip I found somewhere online that seems to work in the mean time. Maybe you've already heard about it and will wonder where on earth I've been, thinking this was something people might not know about : ) Then again, maybe not so here it is...

I use toe separators. You know those things you put between your digits while you paint & dry your nails.? Who uses those on their toes? I guess I never could stand the feeling. I do have a few that now hold my bobbins in my sewing box. They really do a great job keeping those bobbins from unwinding.

It works in a pinch : )

Happy sewing...

I stack my bobbins in a small empty Rx script vials. The small containers are great for on the go, and another way to recyle.

Hi that is a good idea,

I remember reading on line somewhere that plastic tubing from the hardware store. You can cut it with scissors and then cut the piece down the middle. That also keeps threads from unraveling

Great idea, and I also found out last weekend, the clips that are around prescription nasal sprays are also great. Keep the ideas coming. Thanks:)

Thanks for the pony tail holder idea Laurie. I like it!I'm not quite understanding the cookie decoration container though. Maybe because I never buy cookie decorations?? I guess I'm too busy eating them while they're still hot!! : )

I save the plastic cookie decoration containers which my bobbins fit perfectly in. I also have some of the cotton pony tail bands, the smaller sized ones, which can be put around the bobbin to keep the thread from unraveling. If you have clear plastic bobbins, you can still see what color thread is wound on the bobbin. If you use the pony tail holders, you can just dump your bobbins in a plastic dish (recycled butter container), until you need a specific color for your use.
