Sew, What's New?

Curating sewing and quilting talent, techniques, and tutorials, since 1997.

The Love is out camping with his buddies this weekend and I am so psyched about being able to sew & create all weekend. Here is what I accomplished last night.

Austin Pajama Pants

I started these 2 pair of pajama pants for the youngest grandson, Austin, last month. Sometimes the simplest of projects get put off because I think, "Oh they are so simple. I'll whip them up later." And later never gets here. Since we will be visiting Austin and the rest of his family for Thanksgiving, I finished these to take with us.

Riley knit top

2+2 Skirt from Oliver + S

Next up is this cute little purple top for The Princess. Again, I started it last month and just kept putting off the finishing details, like weaving in all the serged ends. This top goes with the skirt I made her in September. The Princess likes "bling" to adorn her clothing but I'm not really a "bling" person so I used lots of buttons on the top. Hopefully, she'll like it.

Two projects slated for completion this morning, both are for The Coach.

  • Finish cross stitching the Thanksgiving bread cloth which is part of last year's birthday gift. I only have a little outlining to do. (For her birthday last year The Coach asked if I would cross stitch a bread cloth for each holiday for her. So all year I have been doing that. After Thanksgiving's cloth is finished I have the birthday cloth and a general use cloth to finish up. The general use cloth was a late addition.)
  • sew in the lining of the purse I knit The Coach for this year's birthday. I will give it to her over Thanksgiving weekend because her birthday is in early December.

But first I'm off for a morning run!

I'm jealous! I don't have anyone to worry about at home, and I still can't accomplish to the amount you have!
Well done. Your mauve/purple top is adorable. Gotta' say I love what can be done by using the sewing machine!

Marilyn, "The Coach" is my oldest daughter. She's nicknamed The Coach because she is my personal trainer and running coach. I also have The Son, (my only son), The Chef (my youngest daughter who is a chef) and The Love (my husband, The Love of My Life!). Thanks for asking.

This year I am doing some Christmas gift sewing. I have just started mother/daughter aprons in a cupcake fabric. I also made our 10 year grand daughter a mock snuggie. I am going to make a few more of those. And I also made stuffed letters for our 9 year old grandsons bed in the Saints team colors. So far so good!

I can so relate to marathon projects. Hubby is away for maybe 2 weeks. Painting, making new bedroom drapes, hemming living room drapes, cushions for the couch, embellishing bathroom towels, and lunch with friends are all on the agenda. Of course I am missing him but...hey.....

Atta girl - go get um done! I bought fabric for an apron for DD - but that's as far as I've gotten. Keep us all inspired, girl! How long do you have in your sewing heaven alone???

Isn't it wonderful when you have some time all to yourself. We love our guys but it is nice to have time to just do your favorite thing without interuption. Great job on your projects.
