Sew, What's New?

Curating sewing and quilting talent, techniques, and tutorials, since 1997.

Saturday, January 16, 2010 MARVELOUS MODAS I think any of us who quilt like at least some of the fabrics offered by MODA. So, imagine having 480 - 2 1/2" squares from the Moda Bakeshop Sampler to play with. I recently purchased the Sampler and have only used 81 in this wallhanging. I used the brighter colors for this with a dark and light green border (the picture doesn't do the color justice!). Now, that leaves 399 squares to play with in another project. Most of the squares that are left are more traditional earth tones and I'm considering an alternating dark and light 9 patch. I have found it more difficult to have the fabric and then come up with a project as opposed to having a project and then buying fabric! Does anyone else have this problem? Of course, this is a problem that is fun to work out.

That is a beautiful quilt. I want to cuddle up in it! Moda is fantastic fabric. I prefer it for my projects that include totes and children's clothing...like Pink Fig patterns! Thank you for sharing such beauty! Can't wait to see what you come up with for the other squares!

Lynne that is gorgeous!
I too have the same problem, I bought a Bakeshop Sampler too and can't decide what to do with it! I also love charm packs and have bought a "few" thinking I would easily come up with a project - but I'm finding it hard to do. You've inspired me to get moving on this & find a project.

I think Moda has the NICEST fabric of all in the quilters. I only make clothes, but buy Moda regularly.
