Sew Funky Snow Gaiters {Tutorial}

With all of the snow so many of us have received over the past few weeks I thought a tutorial on gaiters would be helpful. From Wikipedia: "Gaiters are garments worn over the shoe and lower pant leg, and used primarily as personal protective equipment; similar garments used primarily for display are spats. Originally, gaiters were made of leather. Today, gaiters for walking are commonly made of plasticized synthetic cloth such as polyester."  Gaiters are so easy to make and so practical.  If you do a lot of walking outside, to and from work, the bus stop, etc, you might want to consider making a couple of pairs of these out of some water repellant fabric.  You could also make them with a second layer of fleece on the inside for extra warmth.  "Thirtdirtyfingers" wrote a "quick and dirty" tutorial to show us how to make gaiters, take a look!

This is so cool!!! We have had so much snow this winter already. I will have to go buy some water repellant fabric.  I have been having to change my pants each time I take the dog out, as the hem is always wet.

Fantastic idea Susan.  I was just in Atlantic Canada, and not only did we get dumped on when we were there, we came home to it too.  Super creative way to still look fashionable in our lovely Canadian winters.
