Crochet Panel to Beautiful Momento Cushion

A friend of mine lost her mother recently.  She had kept this small piece of her crochet work and asked me to use it to make a cushion.  As it was white I chose black velvet for the cushion.

I cut an 18" square for the front and laid the crochet down the centre and hand stitched it in place.  I overlocked the whole piece to prevent any fraying.

I added a piece of black braid down the sides and machined that in place which secured the edges.  For the back I cut 2 rectangles, one 18" x 10" and the other 18" x 12" so I could create a flap on one side to cover the zipper.  I had never tried that before and I was pleased with the result.

My friend was very happy that she has something of her mother's to treasure.  The photo doesn't do it justice if I say so myself.

You have done a wonderful job. It is so nice to be able to save someone's work and put it on display for all to see.
