Hi, Alexia. I used to make clothes for other people, prom dresses, wedding dresses, like your grandmother, but have gotten away from that. I made all my childrens clothes when they were little and it is a joy to sew for my grandchildren now. It's difficult though because they are growing so fast that I can't keep up with their measurements and I just sent a leopard print shrug and newsboy style hat to my 9 yr old grandaughter and they were too small just since I measured her since Christmas. Now the 5 yr old will have to grow into them! They live down in the Houston, TX area so only get to see them once or twice a year. My sister-in-law lives in Vinton, La, which is right by I-10 next to the TX border. Been there a couple of times.

I have sewn in several factories through the years and picked up a few pointers from that and I used to sell sewing machines about 12 years ago. Now I just stay home and sew or travel when I get the chance. Thanks for the warm welcome.

Hi Alexia, thank you for the warm welcome! Yes that is my family in the picture. My husband James is there with me along with our son Jacob who is 3 and a half and our daughter EllaBray who is 2. I am fairly new to the sewing scene. I've been taking classes at Joann's and loving everything about it. Right now I am still taking classes and working on a couple things. A spring dress for my daughter, a dog bed for our new puppy, and curtains for my husbands office.

Thanks for the welcome. I have just looked up a pattern for fabric fortune cookie. They look real cute. I sponsor a club at high school level and we have a mother/daughter tea each yr.
I'm always looking for projects and favors for my girls. I'm going to love this site. Don't know why I haven't found it sooner.

what sort of a camp is it? I think that teaching things like this is definately needed as I think that it is becoming a lost art for many. Keep up the good work.

Hi. I just found this site by accident. I am returning to sewing after a very long hiatus. ( Since high school, and I'm 54.) I'm working on an easter dress for my little cousin who is 5. It has ribbon embroidery, which I've never done before but which I love. Also just learning to use these social websites. Thanks for saying hello.

Hi Alexia, good to hear from you. I love to do hand needlework. I am a member of the Beauregard Council on aging and we have a quilting class every Wednesday for 3 hours. However, my husband is ill and I haven't been able to go to class ,but some classmates are faithful in dropping off the patterns for me. We also, do quilting for the Dialysis Patients. This is very rewarding for me. We (Council on Aging)also have a quilt show in the fall sponsered by the Sheriff's Dept and Council on Aging. The community is very supportive of this effort. I crochet, hand and machine embroidery, counted cross stitch, and quilt from beginning to end. I enjoy a very full life.
